Zvezda - Russian Trainer Aircraft Yak-130 - 7307 - 1:72
The Yakovlev Yak-130 is a fully metal-structured training and light combat jet manufactured in Russia. Propulsion is provided by two AI-222-25 turbojet engines. The prototype's flight occurred in April 1996, and series production began in 2009. The Yakovlev Yak-130 was developed as an advanced military training aircraft to replace the old Aero L-39 Albatros in the USSR and later in the Russian armed forces. Due to the collapse of the USSR and the major budget problems of the Russian Federation in the 1990s, work on the Yak-130 project proceeded very slowly. It clearly accelerated when the Italian company Aermacchi began cooperation with the Yakovlev office in 1993 (from 2003 - part of the Finmeccanica company). In 2000, the partners separated, but this did not have a decisive impact on the development of the Yak-130 project. The aircraft's design can be considered quite successful and promising, as evidenced by the development of combat versions (e.g., the Yak-131 light fighter). The machine also aroused considerable interest among exporters. The following countries reported their willingness or the purchase was made by the following countries: Algeria, Libya, Syria, Belarus, Bangladesh, and Myanmar.
