Zvezda - Topol SS-25 Sickle - 5003 - 1:72
The RT-2PM Topol (NATO designation: SS-25 Sickle) was a Soviet Cold War era intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) with a 1000 kg warhead. It was the first ICBM to be deployed on a wheeled platform.
Development of the RT-2PM Topol began in 1977 by MITT factories in Moscow and the Tytan Central Design Office in Volgograd. Work after 1979 reportedly violated the SALT II Disarmament Treaty. The system utilizes a mobile platform based on the MAZ-7310 or MAZ-7917 tractor chassis, with fully mobile command, battlefield management, and communication systems. After trials and modernizations starting in 1983, the first missiles reached units in 1985 and achieved full combat readiness in 1987-1988. The Topol missiles are still used by the Russian Federation's armed forces, with the Topol-M being a modernized version.
