The British Aerospace (now BAE) 146 is a modern British high-wing turbofan aircraft powered by four Textron Lycoming ALF 502R-5 engines. Created by BAE Systems following the merger of British manufacturers in 1978, the project resulted in a medium-range aircraft carrying around 100 passengers. It made its maiden flight in 1981, with 387 units produced between 1983 and 2002. It was renowned for its high reliability, ease of handling, low operating costs, and short runway performance, featuring variants such as the 146-100, the stretched 146-200, firefighting models, and the CC2 variant for the British Royal Family.
