The Wiesel is a modern German light tracked armored vehicle. Developed in the 1970s to meet the needs of German airborne troops, serial production took place between 1985 and 1993, ending with approximately 340 vehicles produced. In the original Wiesel 1 version, the model weighs 2,700 kg, reaches up to 70 km/h powered by an 86 HP diesel engine, and operates in reconnaissance missions, also featuring the ATM TOW anti-tank variant. Later, the Wiesel 2 version was developed with a longer hull, reinforced armor, and a more powerful engine, serving as the basis for models such as the air defense radar variant and a 120mm mortar carrier. Widely used by the Bundeswehr in peacekeeping and stabilization missions in Bosnia and Kosovo, the vehicle remains in service with the German Army, and a small number of chassis were also ordered by the US Army.
